Dear Survivors of Sexual Trauma,
You might be living in the echoes of your own history right now. Your nervous system might be on fire. You might feel like a confusing mix of disembodiment and embodying everything at the same time. When you open up your social media feeds, it might feel like you can’t look at the horrifying information circulating but you have to look at the exact same time.
I know.
I also know it’s hard to ask someone to hold that with you. For so many reasons. But, please know there’s an army of therapists out here ready to embrace you. We’re talking about you, creating space for you, collaborating on how to show up for you, as we all witness the disturbing emerging out of where it had been concealed. We know for you especially, this material landed in your body like a brick through a glass window.
Please reach out. If it’s not me, I’ll help you find the therapist that will walk into the dark to meet you there. If you’re experiencing resource-related barriers to accessing care, we have solutions for that too.

With love and endurance,
Candice Craft, LMFT
